Born on July 20, 2002, in Brooklyn, New York, John Hudson was raised in Tottenville, where he grew up surrounded by a close-knit and supportive family. From an early age, he was known for his resilience and determination, always striving to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Living with Epidermolysis Bullosa, John Hudson became a powerful and inspiring advocate for those affected by the condition. Through his work with the EB Research Partnership, he helped raise awareness, support research efforts, and give a voice to individuals facing similar challenges. His dedication and impact earned him recognition as one of Staten Island’s most influential people in 2016.
Beyond his advocacy, John Hudson was remembered for his vibrant personality and wide-ranging passions. He loved cooking, had a deep appreciation for Japanese culture, and was an enthusiastic fan of The Walt Disney Company, particularly enjoying collecting and trading Disney pins. He was also a devoted supporter of the New York Rangers and had a strong interest in the Marvel universe.
Family was at the heart of John Hudson’s life. He is survived by his loving mother, Faye; sister, Kalilla; brother, Teak; and brother-in-law, Pascal, along with his grandparents and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, John Dilgen, and other cherished relatives.
Services & Visitation
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians RC Church.
