Chancellore Jabez Donaldson Obituary- Death, Rome, Georgia Shooting: Beloved Resident Has Passed Away
A shooting outside a Family Dollar store on North Broad Street NE turned deadly in the early hours of Sunday, leaving a 22-year-old man dead and prompting a homicide investigation.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on April 19 at approximately 12:42 a.m., when Rome police responded to reports of gunfire at the store. Upon arrival, officers found 22-year-old Chancellore Jabez Donaldson suffering from a gunshot wound near the entrance.
Emergency personnel transported Donaldson to a nearby hospital, but he later died from his injuries despite medical efforts to save his life.
Authorities say the scene quickly shifted from an emergency response to a criminal investigation as detectives gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses in the area.
Following investigative leads, police identified 25-year-old Chancelor Lamar Crawford as the suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting. Warrants have since been issued charging him with felony murder in connection with Donaldson’s death.
Officials have warned that Crawford should be considered armed and dangerous and may be located in northwest Georgia or the metro Atlanta area.
