A tragic shooting at Leinbach Park has left two teenagers dead and five others injured after what investigators say began as a planned confrontation escalated into gunfire, shaking the community of Winston-Salem.

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:52 a.m. on Monday after reports of a fight in progress. While units were en route, additional calls confirmed that shots had been fired and multiple people had been struck.

Preliminary findings suggest the incident stemmed from a pre-arranged meeting involving juveniles. When the groups gathered at the park, the situation quickly escalated into a violent exchange of gunfire in a public area.

At the scene, officers located a 17-year-old male, identified as Erubey Romero Medina, who was pronounced dead in the parking lot of the park. A second victim, 16-year-old Daniel Jimenez Millian, was found inside the park with a gunshot wound and was also pronounced dead despite emergency response efforts.

Additional victims were discovered nearby with injuries ranging from critical to minor, including multiple teenagers and young adults. Authorities confirmed a total of seven individuals were struck by gunfire during the incident, with some believed to have been involved in the exchange.

Officials have emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing, with detectives working to determine the exact roles of those involved, review witness statements, and reconstruct the sequence of events. Identities of other juvenile victims have not been released in accordance with state law.

Law enforcement has urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to rely only on official updates as the case develops. Community members are encouraged to provide any information that may assist investigators.
