Jeremy Ferguson and Mandy Zelinka Obituary- Death, Santa Monica, California Murder-Suicide: Community Mourns Death

A senior official with Downtown Santa Monica and his wife were found dead in their Venice home on Tuesday in a case authorities are investigating as a possible murder-suicide, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police responded to a residence on the 600 block of Superba Avenue around 10:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Jeremy Ferguson, Director of Operations for Downtown Santa Monica Inc., and his wife, Mandy Zelinka, both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

While the investigation remains ongoing, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times that both individuals suffered fatal injuries. Authorities have not officially confirmed a motive.

Reports from NBC4 indicate that Ferguson may have sent an email to a friend resembling a suicide note, along with instructions to access the home. Sources cited by the station suggest investigators believe he may have shot his wife before taking his own life, though police have not publicly verified this information.

Downtown Santa Monica Inc. expressed deep sorrow over Ferguson’s death. CEO Debbie Lee described him as a dedicated leader who played a key role in supporting the growth and vitality of the downtown community.

Ferguson was actively involved in civic initiatives, including local development efforts and community programs. He also contributed to organizations such as the Santa Monica History Museum, YMCA, Police Activities League, and Boys and Girls Clubs.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
