Wanda K. Hartley Obituary- Death, Dunkirk, Maryland Crash: Beloved Resident Has Passed away
A tragic two-vehicle crash in Dunkirk, Maryland has left the community mourning the death of 68-year-old Wanda K. Hartley, who died following a serious collision on Solomons Island Road near Lothian.
The crash occurred on April 21, 2026, around 7:35 p.m. near the area of Solomons Island Road and Ducks Lane. According to police, the collision involved a Honda Accord and a Ford F-350 towing a dump trailer. Both vehicles were reportedly traveling southbound, with the Ford positioned behind the Honda.
Investigators believe the Honda slowed suddenly, after which the Ford struck the rear and driver’s side of the vehicle. Following the impact, both vehicles left the roadway and entered a nearby wooded area. The Honda continued forward and struck a tree head-on, resulting in significant damage.
Wanda K. Hartley, a Dunkirk resident and occupant of the Honda, was transported to a nearby hospital after the crash. Despite medical efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Ford, a 39-year-old man from Chesapeake Beach, remained at the scene. He was not injured and declined further medical treatment from emergency responders.
Loved ones remember Hartley as a cherished member of her community, and her sudden passing has left family and friends deeply saddened by the loss.
