It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Timothy David McGinnis, Sr., 59, of Kingston, Ohio, who went home to be with his Savior on April 17, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving wife. After a courageous 13-year battle with cancer, Timothy faced his illness with unwavering faith, strength, and perseverance, never allowing it to diminish his spirit, influence, or testimony.

Born on June 21, 1966, in Detroit, Michigan, Timothy was the son of William and Carolyn McGinnis (Cannon). From an early age, his life reflected a deep commitment to faith, service, and family. Throughout his life, he was driven by a passion for serving the Lord and those around him, living out his beliefs through both his ministry and everyday relationships.

Timothy will be remembered as a devoted and selfless husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, pastor, and friend. His life was marked by compassion, humility, and a genuine love for people. Those who knew him often speak of his ability to uplift others, offer guidance, and share encouragement even in the most difficult circumstances. The impact of his faith-filled life continues to be felt deeply by all who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Babette McGinnis (Petzold); his children Rebecca (Steven) Culp, Timothy (Elise) McGinnis Jr., Nathaniel (Toni) McGinnis, and Meredith (Ross) Picklesimer; and his cherished grandchildren Judah, Malachi, Charlotte, Antoinette, Aria, Asher, Corbin, Emmalee, Evelyn, Cooper, and Steven. He is also survived by his father, William (Carolyn) Lee McGinnis; siblings Bill (Janie) McGinnis and Melinda (Thomas) Berry; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn McGinnis.

Timothy’s love story with his wife Monica began in their teenage years in Plainwell, Michigan, where they attended church and worked together at a bicycle shop. Their friendship grew into a lifelong partnership built on faith, devotion, and shared purpose. They were married in 1985 and shared 40 beautiful years together.

A devoted minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ for 36 years, Timothy co-founded New Life Church in Circleville, Ohio, in February 2000 alongside Monica and their children. He served faithfully as lead pastor for 25 years, dedicating his life to guiding others in faith and service. His ministry touched countless lives, and his leadership was marked by wisdom, compassion, and steadfast devotion.

Outside of his pastoral work, Timothy found joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with Monica, preaching, sharing laughter, golfing, and cherishing meaningful moments with those he loved most. His presence brought comfort, strength, and joy to many.

A celebration of life service will be held at New Life Church, 7766 Stoutsville Pike, Circleville, Ohio, on May 2nd. Visitation will take place from 9:00–10:00 a.m., followed by the celebration service from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Green Summit Cemetery in Adelphi, Ohio. A luncheon will be held at New Life Church at 1:00 p.m.

Timothy David McGinnis will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his unwavering faith, his loving heart, and the lasting legacy he leaves in his family, his church, and all whose lives he touched.
